After Removal of Catheter

Drink plenty of fluids, 1 – 2 litres per day – tea, coffee, juice or water etc

You might find it easier to sit on the toilet to pass urine.

If you are unable to pass urine 4 to 5 hours after having your catheter removed and you are feeling uncomfortable, ring your doctor’s rooms or, if out of hours, go to the nearest hospital Accident and Emergency department.

Have one sachet of Ural 3 times per day.

Attend to pelvic floor exercises if they have been recommended for your condition.

You may have a small showing of blood in your urine post removal of the catheter, which is common.

Having a warm shower may help you relax and void.
